The Faculty of Medicine evolved out of the former Academy of Applied Medicine, which was established in 1907. It soon achieved international recognition when leading practitioners pioneeringly integrated basic research and clinical practice.

Institute of History, Theory and Ethics of Medicine

The Institute of History, Theory and Ethics of Medicine researches and teaches the historical, theoretical and ethical foundations of medical thought and action.


Our specialists have significantly shaped neurosurgery. They have played a decisive role in shaping the modern concepts of brain tumor surgery, surgery of the cerebral vessels, spinal surgery, treatment of movement disorders and pain, and also pediatric neurosurgery.

Phoniatrics and Pedaudiology

The area of ​​responsibility of Phoniatrics and Pedaudiology includes the diagnosis and treatment of speech, speech, voice and swallowing disorders as well as childhood hearing disorders.
